A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Hello from Alberta

64, retired, and on a medical pension; I shot my first round from my dad's Cooey when I was 13 and have owned a rifle and shotgun or two since I was 19. Always interested in studying the histories of the two great opponents; Lee-Enfield and Mauser 98 as I have owned one of each from the $40 bargain barrel after graduating from forestry & wildlife school in the late 1970s. Though each is now worn and wobbly, I still enjoy buffing them up. Current project is the restoration/refinish of a Husqvarna 1600. I have little to teach anyone and have joined to learn from others.

    Hello Everyone

A little about myself. I am a gunsmith by trade with all most 40 yrs in the field. I have worked in these areas as a gunsmith, Law Enforcement , Retail for 20 yrs and DOD small arms. I manufacture of Obsolete gun part, and have manufactured my own Bolt action receivers of my design plus I do all type of gun finishes, I enjoy building match rifles on MI and MIA and bolt guns. I build a pretty nice 1911 to. I also enjoy vintage Finley built firearms along with steam engines, planes, trains, cars. I am screwed. I've got to many pleasures and not enough time to enjoy them all. As a member of this form if you have a gunsmith problem I would be more happy to help you come up the serviceable answer. Just to help.

By the way My name is Milton

I was kindly given a Lee Enfield No 4 mk1* (matching numbers in lovely condition) . Hadn't handled, never mind fired one, since I was a kid growing up in Englandicon (early 80's). So far I have broken the rifle down to the basics of its action/Barrel, thoroughly cleaned and oiled everything and brought a nice lustre to the furniture with BLOicon and homemade polish, none of which would have been possible without the wealth of knowledge provided by the kind members of this site.
( I even managed to find the rifle's likely production date at the Savage factory)

    Many Thanks

New Member from PINELAND (Located somewhere in Central NC)

Just wanted to thank everyone for the wealth of information contained here. I am not new to military rifle collecting. I have Garands, '03's, M1icon Carbines and recently caught the US Model of 1917 bug! Seems that there is always something new to learn in this hobby, just hard to figure out what's right and what's wrong and what could be a maybe. Glad to be here as a member now.

    Greetings

    Hi there
I have been collecting for over 40 years. Have had more items pass through my hands that, I wish I still had, than I care to remember!
Have recently purchased my 7th No.4 MkI (T).
