Definitely new here. I do have some milsurp arms knowledge but am more a question asker than an information asset. My newest surplus rifle is a French MAS 1936...newest surplus pistol is a Buenos Aries old style FN High Power.

I look forward to surfing these forums...you can only surf so much if your not a member and I used that up last summer researching L1A1 rifles. My son and I built one last summer on a Coonan receiver...interesting thing to build

I found the group accidentally,
Searching for info on my Cooey M82 trainer rifle.

I've recently started to collect MOST types of Cooeys.

Sentimental reasons actually.

See, I was a young lad back in the late 60's, the Cooey plant was literally across the street from my home in Cobourg.

We neighbourhood kids spent many an hour playing on long hot summer days "Cowboys & Indians".

It was much easier being a Cowboy due to the fact that Cooey had a stock pile of defective or discarded rifle stocks in a pile outside their back door. So it was easy to pick one out and tape an old broom handle to it to act as the barrel.... Bow and arrows were much harder to come by back then.

So needless to say I am now collecting "Cobourg" marked "Cooeys".

So let me say that I am looking for a Sling for my Model M82.
I'd like the old Blue Air Cadet one if possible.
So if anyone know a source. I'd be glad to have that info.

Hello all, have been a periodic observer for a number of years. Thought I had made a previous post around 2010-13 but Admin says I was never registered here. That being said, here's my sad story: In 1957 or 58 I acquired a Arisaka Mod 38 allegedly pre-WWII in 257 Roberts. When I went to shoot it at the gun range it key holed. A bench Rest shooter helped my dad and I discover the cause of the problem. It was an Ackley converted 6.5 x 257 Roberts. It had an unfinished Fajen stock, that I worked down over several stints. Williams iron sights fore and aft and would consistently group 3/4 to 1 inch all day long. In fact I usually would take 3rd or 4th place in our local matches. Sometime around 59 into the 60's I found a book on Arisakas. I don not recall the exact title not definitively the author, but as I recall it was a Dr. Holiday. What stuck me then was that he showed photos of of markings on the safety knob of 000, 00,0. These he indicated were grade rankings and that they preceded markings prior to production Mod 38 before the war; I assume WWII. Allegedly these marks indicate Premier Actions. 000's going to the likes of Princes and Presidents, 00 to whomever and 0 as in my action still a higher grade than production rifles. As I have mulled this over the only way to try and track down this author is through the Library of Congress. As any book ever published will be registered here. Hope this helps. As for the rifle, oh well, I gave it to a close friend in undergraduate college (Cal St Univ Chico around 1972) he loved shooting it so much. Hope FB still has it.

Hello to all! I've taken a rather backwards route to collecting surplus rifles, having first collected the bayonets, ammo, and web gear that goes with them; and now am starting to gain interest in and acquire the guns. Present collection includes a Type 38 Arisaka, 1942 Inland M1 Carbine, Chinese SKS, and a cut-down 1898 Krag. Looking forward to dispensing my slight bit of knowledge, and absorbing a great deal more!

I just picked up a Model 1924 Mauser reciever that had been re-barreled with a new Barrel in 22-250. Problem it was missing Complete bolt and trigger guard. I was told that some parts from the Mex 1910 & 1936 will interchange. I know the standard 98 bolts are longer and that the 1924 is a large ring intermediate action.
Can any one tell me if a Mex 1910 or 1936 bolt will fit?
