I am a retired federal public servant and now a energy consultant. I collect at the moment First and Second WW revolvers. My collection currently includes a 1916 Webley Mark VI, 1917 Colt new service and a 1917 Smith and Wesson Mark 2 hand ejector all 3 in .455. Would love to get my hands on a few Prideau loader some day.

By way of introduction, I am new to the forum. I am a 48 year old aircraft maintenance engineer with a keen interest in history and all things Lee Enfield. I have a 1 1919 SMLE No 1 Mk III / 1937 Parker Hale Supreme No 4 conversion and a sporterized 1941 No 4 Mk1. I am looking at a 1942 Longbranch No 4MK1* in full military configuration. It has matching serial numbers on the bolt, magazine and wristband but I could not find a serial number on the barrel itself. Does anyone have information as to whether Longbranch always put serial numbers on the barrels or whether some were produced without?

I never owned a firearm before I retired 2016.
I joined the Milan Rifle Club in 2017 mainly to practice handgun skills. Soon after I attended one of their vintage military bolt gun fun shoots and I was hooked. I started looking for a gun to use in these events @ local gun shows and shops around town. It seems like within a week I became a “collector.”

I don’t know if they ever put serial numbers on the barrel. The markings will be on the muzzle and they tell allot, like maybe if and where it was replaced.
In any case if it had been replaced not as big a deal to me as condition of the bore, especially if you plan to shoot it.
I am new here too. I shoot mine it’s a good shooting rifle, maybe the best bolt action battle rifle of all.
I would look around in here for info on those muzzle markings...but don’t be afraid to buy it.

Newbie pointed here after a reference to useful information. I shoot modern Civilian Service Rifle at Bisley and have been looking at historic rifles, scoped and unscoped, for historic service rifle competitions in the UK. I have a Long Branch No.4 Mk1* and am in the process of looking for a shooting example of a No.4(T) to use similarly.

Interested in many things but guns are one of my best interests. Not that I know much about them although pistols are my main experience. I am a retired Air Force avionics specialist, 35 years service.

The only actual military weapon I own is an surplus M1 Carbine. I purchased this through the NRA at the end of the Korean conflict. Top condition, still in cosmoline when I received it. The only changes I have made was to refinish the rough stock.

I currently have a question. Does anyone know where to purchase an in the chamber bore sight laser for this weapon? I have researched everywhere but have not found any specific to the .30 carbine.
