Where The Book Is Wrong

Most newcommers seem to be using the Craig Riesch book. For those of us just starting, or getting back into collecting, it would be of immense help to have the "pros" point out the errors in this book relating to parts markings so we can make the corrections.

For instance, Rock-Ola type three hammer markings, the book shows nine possible markings for this hammer, is the book right or wrong?

What else is "known" and needs to be corrected in the book?

One error would be that RSG marked in the slingwell stocks are for Rock-Ola. A common mistake, the R in RSG stands for the Robert Irwin Co who made stocks for Saginaw Gear of Grand Rapids Michigan.

The "Books" do have a few errors but there are a lot of leave outs. This causes new collectors to think X part is right when X,Y or Z parts could be right. Look up a HQ stock.

For the most part that section on Rock-Ola hammers is wrong. To list all the other errors in the book would take a long time. The book is well worth the cover price but it is a good example of you get what you pay for.

Bubba, I have 31 carbine stocks in house right now and none have HQ. I'm guessing it was made for Quality?

Is the B/R, B/R in a circle and B/R in squares is what is wrong in the type 3 hammer Rock-Ola section of Riesch?

My point about the HQ stock is it is not listed but a HQ handguard is.
