    Changing foresight blades

I need to install a taller blade on my LE Ishy 2A. Are there any tricks I should know about drifting off the dovetail and installing the new one? It looks like removal should be right to left (muzzle away). Use a brass dowel and mallet?
Thanks for your help and advice.

Just make sure the muzzle is well supported if you are using a drift and not a pusher. Does no harm to secure the front sight base in a padded vice. A nylon drift doesn't leave marks. If you end up with brass smears, use bore cleaner to remove them.

I tend to use brass. And yes, bore cleaner takes the smears right off. Brass is more positive than nylon in my experience. Don't use steel punches!

I've seen them on eBay, Wes. If you loosen the sight blade retaining screw it's quite easy to move the blade with light taps from a punch, but harder to get the fine adjustments than with the pusher. I cut a slot in a brass punch with my Dremel to make the tool necessary to loosen the retaining screw.
