A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. This rifle may be a Warner & Swasey Sniper Rifle, but NOT for a M1913 scope, and it is somewhat doubtful it is a real W&S sniper rifle due to its particular serial number, but that is just a maybe. The rifle is years too soon for the M1913. The rifle originally came with a M1908 Warner & Swasey, if it is authenticate. The mount rail screws should be exactly flush with the inside of the receiver, and staked in a particular way.

What is disturbing about this rifle is the rifle's serial number is stamped inside the rail and is for this rifle, which cannot be. The serial number in the rail has been added by someone at a later date.

The earliest known M1913 Warner & Swasey Sniper rifle, to my knowledge, is SA SN 577890.

These are just my humble opinions.

I think John Beardicon pretty much concurrs with you, Jim. I think I asked him about it awhile back.

    Go Bulldogs!

Maybe this year. You been back recently, John? I went back in 1987, and the place had changed a lot, but still looked the same in a way. I love the old buildings. I still remember compulsory ROTC and those wool uniforms in that oppressive heat. I have never cleaned an M1icon since.
