WW1 Enfield Wire Wrapped Grenade Rifles (Tennis Ball Challenge)

This is some fun video, which I thought many of our members and other collectors here would enjoy. It shows MILSURPS.COM members ~Angel~, Scott and Badger, engaged in The Great Canadianicon Tennis Ball Challenge competitive match, using WW1 Enfield Wire Wrapped Grenade Rifles (click here), just one of the historical entries found in the England - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here).

Looks like a well spent day.
What's the recoil like when firing the blank/tennis ball combination?

Looks like fun. What were you using for blanks? Original blanks or handloaded ones?

Hardly anything, but remember, they weren't firing an original 1 1/2 pound N0.36 Wikipedia reference-linkMills bomb.

Believe or not, they were using original 1913 and 1914 dated blank ammunition, which is why you see them shaking the cartridge to see if there's loose powder in them. Some of the blank rounds didn't have that "salt shaker" sound and they seemed to be the ones that went "POP" with a weak discharge of the tennis ball.

It would be interesting to see what kind of range and precision you could get with a weighted dummy grenade.

Looks like a good time Guess there's no shortage of blanks in your house if you are using originals. Hope you cleaned for corrosive ammo!!!

For my part, I'm content to shoot blanks these days. One child is enough...

Also didn't know you guys had two complete launcher setups. You lucky dog!

Very nice to see the ole girls out stretching their legs, History is nice but working history is a treasure.

Thanks, and yes your "inactivity prompt" did encourage me to post my comments, I truly do enjoy the wealth of information contained within these pages. I will admit and confess that I have learned a huge amount of interesting things about my modest collection(two #4's and a Ross)

Thanks for all your hard work in putting a site like this together, although I rarely contribute(not much to offer I'm afraid) I must let you know that your site is enjoyed and often used as a resource

    cheers
