    Talking B/C Black

We got this new stuff at work by birchwood Casey. Its a metal blackening paste. I've used it on a couple of old knives, stuff works great, it is more a blending than a coating. I took an old blued Ka-Bar and touched it up, looks really good. Came out Blue, not black. Then I put it on a piece of hardened O-1 steel then put super blue over it, it looks like case hardening. I wouldn't do it on any collector grade items, but, for user stuff its great-SDH

Up-date, I cleaned out a corner of the cellar and found a bunch of old gun parts and figured what the heck, I blackened them, rinsed then super blued. Parts look as good as new. I'm going to put them outside for a little of natures abuse, who knows?-SDH

Birchwood Cassey metal blackening, it's on there web site for industrial products. Its a light blue goo that is non tox and works really good on tool room products. We use it in the tool room and model shop to keep our dies and stuff from rusting, so it was a must to try it on gunsmithing projects, HTH-SDH
