    Good Book

Gentleman, I have been an ' 03 ' man for many years, but to cure my craving for them, I will try to look in another direction....1911 & 1911A1. What book would you recommend. With the 03's, there is a need for more than one book, as some are better than others in different areas. Hoping to find just one good 1911 book to start, and maybe move forward from there.
I appreciate all your input, Thank you.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. There are numerous good books out there on this fine weapon. Charles Clawson has a few that tend to bring big $$ - if you can find the full versions. Scott Meadows also has a great book out, and is less expensive than Clawson's. Goddard also has another book out there that has a lot of information on the development of the pistol. Poyer came out with a book fairly recently with a lot of detail that is reasonably priced... probably your best option for the price. It is "The Model 1911 and Model 1911 A1 Military and Commercial Pistols". My apologies if I am forgetting any books...

Clawson's 3rd edition Collector's Guide and the CD from Karl Karash is still available for $60.
That's the best money a man can spend for a book on the military .45s. The CD that accompanies the book is nice, too. A lot of excellent hi-resolution photos.
    That's where I'd start out.
