A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I can't say as I have ever seen the felt cradles on a can before. Also kind of odd that the scope is dated 1949, but yet is an early version mk1 or mk2. Unless maybe the 1949 is the serial number of the scope? My computer doesn't show it all that well...it kind of appears to have the sunshade of a mk1.

Home made "cradles" & tool holder.

In the 1 photo w/o the scope in the way you can see the rivet holes where the scope & tool mountings were removed.

I suspect that the mount is a repro as well.

Just a gut feeling based on it appearing identical to those on some of the "snipers" which have showed up on that Italianicon "surplus sniper" web-site.
