Finnish Mosin

Recently picked up a Finnish Mosin with the nicest stock of all my milsurp. The receiver is stamped with a SA and a VKT above the serial number. Can anyone tell me what that means...Bob

I think SA is the Finn acceptance mark. VKT is the factory mark.

SA = Suomi Armeji (sp?) which mean's Finnish Army. It's a property stamp, like the British Broad Arrow on commonwealth gear.

VKT is the logo for Valmet, a finnish arms producer.

I have a small well represented collection of Finnish Mosins and have put together a small library on them. As Claven2 pointed out the SA stands for Suomi Armeji=Finnish army and the VKT=Valtion Kivaarithedas which is know known as Valmet. Could you do a full inspection of the rifle and post all the markings on it (maybe pics) and I can do a little research for you and please include the model. The model 91's have 3 versions of VKT's and there rarity ranges for a 7 to a 9 on a 10 scale depending which one you have, this is assuming it is a M91. If this is one of the other models it could be as high as a 10 on a 10 scale, I have found my Finnish guns out shoot the r\Russian guns by a large margin and look really cool if you like Mosins HTH-SDH

Super, very nice VKT M39. a 1944 dated rates a 4 on the rarity scale. If that were a 1943 it would have rated a 9. So how much does this mean, Can't really say how it translates into money, but the collectors would pay much more if they needed it. It should shoot very well-SDH

You weren't joing about that stock. Has it been touched up, or is that mil-spec?
