The barrel is an authentic star-gauged barrel.

But, the rest of the rifle was assembled from assorted mixed parts. The "N S" bolt markings and polishing are fake. The bolt is actually a "J 5" bolt from 1919. And the stock is appears to be a Boyd's or a CMPicon reproduction.

Chuck: this thing is in Littleton, CO. Have you seen it at any local shows. Bolt and stock are wrong and it makes me think the seller is up to no good. The seller's comments are just a little coy. Mind you it is not described as an NM. But... What are your thoughts?

havnt seen it at any shows, i bet i will in the future, dont know the seller personally.
im not one to tell a dealer what he has or what he doesnt have, unless asked.
a lesson learned years ago, im not the keeper of the gunshow.
i have a genuine stargauged 1903A1 in the same serial range, with a 8-37 original barrel, so i started to look at a few things closer, and started to notice.
fake stock, bolt, non original barrel to that receiver, finish to the sight base to the receiver doesnt match up.
the guy didnt even try hard to make it look right, the amount of work that went into making a shooter.
    had the guy just said,
built from parts, with a real star gauged barrel, with a nice C stock, polished bolt. and not tried to fake up the bolt, and actually started it like a real auction with a fair starting bid, it may very well have got 1500.00
the truth will set you free.
