    2" Mortar Round Identification

I don't know if this the correct forum but I have need of a Mortar Expert.

A friend of mine dropped off a 2 inch mortar round today and I need some help identifying it. It is quite heavy, but dos not have a removable cap as on some of my other examples. They have a place for a fuse and detonator like my other ones.
Its dark green with a red band 1/3" wide and an 1 1/4" from the top.
    The round is marked
    2" MOR. II
    Wt/C. 9/42
    LOT 8 6 1
    S.R. 269

    Anyone have information on it?

Where did the round come from, Gagetown? The green may be High Explosive but that is olive green. The red band could denote high explosive but that was usually yellow. I think it used to be red or was for other countries at any rate. But we are talking about an English round. We marked ours 60mm and the Brits marked them 2 inch. That was when I started in the 70's anyway. Korea and before I think everyone called them 2 inch. It was loaded in 9 of 42. SR 269 should be the manufacturers code. Lot 861 is the lot number for tracking and identifying the ammo. You say there's no fuse in it? That's good. If I had a picture, I could probably do better for the identification.

With the pics now on line we've determined that on another thread...this one's 5 years old. That's why pics are invaluable.
