I just ordered my forms online. How long should I plan on this process taking?

It will take +/- 6-8 weeks. My renewal took 47 calendar days. Good luck. Be sure to have a record keeping book after you get your license.

It took me 2 - 3 months to get my application on-line. I filled out the forms and used my credit card to pay the fee. My credit card statement verified that ATF in Washington DC processed the fee. It's been two weeks and still no word from ATF about yay or nay. I'll let you know when I get it, the C&R, that is.

Well it takes time to copy all your info on to that master sheet they keep in the White House. That way they know who to come after first! hehehe, just kidding---but with the current gang in Wash. you can expect delays.

tmark.....It came regular USPS snail mail.
You get one original. It tells you not to sign the original license. Make copies of it, and sign those as you use them.

Once you receive it, scan it in in color and then simply print out a pdf and sign. Can even add comments to the other half of the page as it comes as an 8.5 x 5.5 sheet (or almost half an A4). Dave_n

Sometimes it takes much longer if a 'red flag' pops up. Then they do a more intensive background check.
Something in my distant past popped up once. I had to describe in writing all the circumstances. After that was reviewed I had a telephone interview with an ATF agent. Mostly to confirm the content of my letter and to verify my identity. No confirmation or denial by phone. Only a very polite thank you for my time. My C&R arrived about three weeks later. Total time was nearly three months. After all that I let it expire in the mid-80's LOL
There was a certain side benefit though. Anytime I needed Defense Department or Treasury Department clearances for my job, my name usually cleared before others on my crew.
