Interesting Find

This bayonet was found in my gated community on the roadside. One of the board members was told to dispose of it. He knew I was interested in bayonets so he gave it to me. At first I thought it was just a run of the mill SKS bayonet without the barrel band but after doing some internet research I have come to the conclusion that it is a Chinese type 56 (AK47) folding spike bayonet. It also appears to be an early model since it is not detachable.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

OOPPS! My mistake. It is really the rare and elusive Modified M1905 Trench Bayonet made by the French company Aue La La for US Forces going into Panama in the 1930s.
I should have known by the grip.

I think that you're correct. It's just a Chinese type 56 bayonet taken off a Chinese type 56 AK47 with the muzzle ring cut off. It wouldn't last long as a bayonet without the muzzle ring.

The swinging attachment geometry of these is quite amazing

I did some more internet research and found this site:

It appears that this bayonet is from an early version of the Chinese Type 56 rifle (AK47). Never had a bayonet ring like the later models.
