Anybody watching "Pawn Stars" on THC?

They had a guy walk into their shop with an 1886 2lb Hotchkiss mountain canon from the Spanish American War era in tow. He asked 30,000 bucks for it, which the owner paid after getting a firing demonstration with a reloaded shell with a solid projectile.

What does it take to own one of these besides lots of money? Are these NFA regulated?

I suspect there are no legal restrictions (in non-commie states).

I saw that! Pretty cool when it fired and they hit the plant they were aiming for. A quick look tells me that muzzle loading black powder cannon that don't fire single piece ammunition (i.e., powder and projectile are seperate) and are manufactured before 1898 are considered antiques and are not covered by either the GCAicon of 1968 or the NFA of 1934. That being said, I'm not immediately seeing anything about this type of piece. I would think it would be C&R and probably would be a class III, but maybe not. Hopefully somebody knows and responds. I know I'll never own one, but I'd still like to know.

Just saw the new episode last night, an old timer walked in with an 1884

Trapdoor in average $750.00 condition, asked $2000 for it, and the owner gave him $1500.

Either the Pawn guys are in for a rude awakening or they are just buying stuff for the sake of the show and dont care if they can resell it at a profit.

The old guy in the show is Kieth Rush. He owns Trapdoors Galore in Las Vegas. I talked to him after the show aired and he told me after the show was shot by the film crew he went back in the store a bought his doucumented trapdoor back, the rifle they shot on the show wasn't even his.
Anyway it still makes for good entertainment.

I can't think of a show I would like to watch least. T V is really scraping the bottom of the barrell for that one, kinda like the logging show, if that show was real OSHA would shut it down,

You mean scraping the bottom of the barrell like the five day news coverage of the great beer summit?.... But i guess that was real.
I'll watch Pawn Stars, It's a lot more entertaining.
Most movie's and programs on TV are not 100% fact.

What bothers me about the shaved headed baboon of pawn stars is his insistence of firing every single firearm that come in the door. Not every Brown Bess and 1690 flintlocks should be fired. But they're too dense to know that, or care, I suppose.

I can't help but wonder why they have all of these shows on the 'History' Channel.
The new catch phrase is 'making history', but it's a long stretch. I guess these 'reality' shows get a better audience, but I miss the history programs.

I think the logging and truck driving shows are boring as can be, and the Pawn Stars show is pretty contrived. I kind of like 'American Pickers' because of the antiques they find and explain about, but It's becoming a little contrived too. (JMO)
