    My first '03a3

I just got my first '03a3. I have been looking for a long time and just got my first good chance so I took it. I don't know much about them and I am looking for a good shooter as well as collectable. Any info you could give me about this gun would be great!

    Reciever:
    U.S.
    REMINGTON
    MODEL 03-A3
    35249XX

    Barrel:
    RA
    3-43
    (P under barrel)

    Front Sight Base: R
    Front Sight Blade: C
    Front Barrel Band/Bayo Lug: R
    Front Sling Swivel: R
    Magazine Cutoff: R
    Rear Sight: H or K or X?
Bolt: SA under bolt handle, REM8620 on top of handle
Bolt Block?: Square w/ 7 inside and R
    Safety: R w/ small square
    Rear Sling Swivel: R

I can't see anything on the trigger guard/ bottom metal, butt plate, or stacking swivel band.

Sorry about all the info. As you can see I have no idea what I am doing. I will try to get some pics up if it will help.

    Thanks in advance for looking.

    Jeff

I'm not one of the experts, but here goes. Bolt body is a replacement; good news is that blued R marked bolt bodies are relatively inexpensive (I have found nice ones for $20-25) . Bands, trigger guard, buttplate, rear sight, and entire bolt should be blued on arsenal originals. If all parts are parked, it is an arsenal rework. Stock should be marked on left wrist with ordnance crossed cannons and FJA inspector mark as made. Probably another mark there as well if rebuilt.

Thanks Arisakaicon. Just my untrained eye looking, it looks like the whole gun has been parked. There are just a few parts that are blued from what I can tell. I am not to worried about replacing everything with blued parts to make it all correct. The markings on the stock are there but very faint, almost undetectable. So the re-park would certify a rebuild? Do the two different markings on the bolt handle mean that it is not correct? I have not heard of two different markings on the same bolt. Sorry for all of the questions, I have always been interested in the 1903 in its different configs and since this is my first one I want to learn as much about it as I can. Any recomendations on which ammo to shoot through it?

    Thanks again for the help!

I have had good luck with the Greek ammo, but any good 30-06 ammo will work very well.

If you can post some photos, you will get for more detail. Sounds like a typical rebuild.
