A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Proof of U.S. Citizenship:

Here's a BIG item that many people forget. You have to have the proof of address page notarized by a notary public. When I moved to another spot around Richmond, VA - I forgot that and it hung up my ability to buy a rifle until I got the original address page notarized. I'm carrying it in hand to Camp Perry just so it won't get lost in the mail and then I couldn't get a rifle there if I desire.

    North Store Garands

I visited the CMPicon North Store yesterday. I did not see any Service Grade Garands on the racks. I did see Rack grades, Field grades and some nice Select grade Garands. For very decent shooters, these Select grades could be the right choice. They have new wood, new barrels and other GI parts that have been refinished. The rumor mill up here at Camp Perry says that they are expecting a new truck load of rifles any day now before the J C Garandicon match.

The right way to do it is to shoot in a qualifying match.

Honorably discharged veterans, current or retired law enforcement and current military do not have to shoot in a qualifying match.

Do be advised that the National Matches have been underway since the first part of the month, and the number of people cycling through the North Store has increased 3-4 fold...maybe more (sure to be more next week when Highpower starts!). The inventory is HIGHLY fluid at this time, so what's there today likely won't be tomorrow! If you want a "predictable" inventory, then plan your trip in January when NOBODY is there, not during the Nationals!
