Type 26 Nambu

A friend just brought over a type 26 pistol. I could not figure out why it was in great shape for being made around 1910.

Very interesting pistol with a drop down trigger guard and sliding plate to inspect the innards.Great bluing,no rust on front of barrel, slight holster wear. Has replacement grips as they have circles around the grip.

Serial number 43171 made by Tokyo/Kojura.

Problem is I have to give it back to the owners son! Probably could not afford it if it was for sale.

It is chambered for the Jap 9mm and I guess you would have to reload for it.

If I remember correctly, Fiocchi makes the Jap 9mm revolver ammo you would need and it's boxer primed so you can reload it.

The guy I bought mine from said he has shot them with 38 S&W. I haven't tried it yet, but they do chamber.

It depends somewhat on tolerances whether .38 S&W will work or not; the rim is usually too thick. There are three possible solutions: 1) cut down the case rims from the front, 2) file the breechface to allow more headspace, or 3) use a .38 S&W reamer to deepen the case head recesses. (No, S&W was not the first to use case head recesses in revolvers; the Type 26 has them.)

Yes, I have several boxes from different sources. Some fit and some don't.
