    Parts authentication

    hey guys,

what do you guys think about the authenticity of the below swivel, marked "UI"? In the picture, it's the center top and bottom swivel.

I ask because at first I had doubts, but I just saw a GB auction for an Inland with an identical swivel that looks original:

    GB Auction #136164837 - Picture #5

    Thanks guys!

The subcontractor supplied Inland with both "Serifs" and "Sans Serif" stamped swivels during a certain time period.
When it comes to early carbine parts, almost none of us has experience with all the different parts. I am sure Brian will chime in. A few details lead me to believe the UI band is original. Your flip sights are another story.

I agree with ScottR. The flip sites have multiple issues that cause me to believe they are fake. The UI band might be real.

The IU stamp looks pretty fresh compared to the wear on the swivel.

i actually have doubts myself over that auction, as the parts looks put together, so the carbine itself may not be original, and thus hard to rely on those parts as authentic in the same regard.

your swivels seems to show different thickness in the stamping as well compared to the one on the auction

    thanks for the posts, guys!

i definitely know that the flip sight isn't real. i didn't pay "real part" pricing for any of the parts, so if they aren't real, then no big loss.

JimF4M1sicon: the picture doesn't really show the wear that well. the swivel is in good shape, but it's not 100%. and the "UI" matches in appearance: it doesn't stand out as being "fresh".

thanks again for the advice! trying to learn the best that i can.
