    Question on Winchester sight options

Was the Beech (spelling?) globe style dual front flip down sight a Winchester factory option "back in the day"?

yup it could be, seen em on 1886's with Lyman or Marble peep sight rear or the very rare folding blade rear sight. You would have to letter the gun in question to see if it came on it, if not orig to it, it is just a curio add on of little practicle value.

Yep...its got the Winchester 3 leaf rear on it. I am not a BBHS member...if you join will they run down the number for you on the phone and tell you if the config is original? I hate waiting weeks and dont want to order the letter if it doesnt match.

The spelling was Beach. I had model 1873 Winchester with the Beach's front sight and a model 62-B Winchester tang sight. The combination was very accurate, as the Beach's front sight flipped up had a tiny post with a very small bead on top of the post which gave an excellent sight picture. The Beach's sight also had a small bead on top of the globe, but I never figured a good use for it.
Lyman made a similar sight, but had a smaller base, and the post in the globe was heavier.
