enfield rear sight insert?

i am wondering if anybody has tried to make the rear sight hole smaller on the distance adjustable flip up sight? some sort of insert maybe? something from a hardware store? im thinking like some sort of small brass something. i would like to make it almost like a target sight.

Drill and tap it to the size of a PH adjustable iris or get another sight to prevent buggering up a good rifle sight and do the same thing..... However, you will still have to move the front sight for windage. Why not bite the bullet and buy a PH or AJP rear sight ???? Then you have both windage and elevation and have not buggered up a good rear sight.

oh i dont want to do anything permanent! i just was thinking of some sort of collared brass fitting that was tiny enough to insert in the existing hole. i could probably get away with putting tape over it and poking a hole but i want something neat. i realize i will have to adjust the windage. but thats easy.

are they a type of sight that would be correct? i will not drill/tap or do anything that i cant reverse. thank you for your time!

They're not correct for an issued military service rifle, they're target sights. With the correct model of target sight, no drilling/tapping will be required.

price may vary but your looking at a minimum if your lucky $150 for an AJ Parker / Parker Hale target site.

used an arpeture from a no 7 with a 10-32 nut, fits like a charm in most CMK3 sights

You can also use the AJ Parker 8/53 that bolts onto the standard Mk1 sight.

please excuse my ignorance but ,i have no idea what any of that is or where to find the parts you refer to.
i would assume a no.7 is some sort of sight?
as is a CMK3?
