    New 1917--front sight problem

Recently scored a new Eddystone. Shot a few rounds through it last week to see how it did and was a bit disappointed.

Not horrible, but not great either.

Today I was looking it over and discovered that the front sight blade is loose in the base. It won't slide completely off, but it does move back and forth about 1/16th of an inch. I think that could explain some of the horizontal dispersion of the group.

What is the best way to fix it?

remove the front sight, unless the base is bent it will come out, if its bent, straighten it.
after you get the front sight off.
with a small flat nosed punch raise the edge on each side front and aft.
    then replace the sight,
    off left to right.
    on right to left.
