A3 front sight base removal
Is there a way to remove my 1903A3 front sight base without cutting it ?
I have the pin removed removed from the base, I soaked it with kroil. I'm smacking it with a block of wood and it won't budge. I did a search and found the excellent procedure of cutting the base with the dremel tool, but that's not what I want to do.
What am I doing wrong ??
Thanks,
John

Just to be sure; you removed the pin that keys with the barrel, not the sight blade, correct? I have found about a third of these sights difficult to remove. I suggest, with a helper, standing the muzzle of the barreled action on a thick piece of pine (section of 2x6"), placeing another piece of hard wood on the sight & use a 2 lb or 3 lb hammer to remove the sight. You may also want to freeze the barreled action first then quickly warm the sight just before you remove it. Try Liquid Wrench, too. Good Luck!

Yep, Both the sight blade and base pins are removed. I didn't try the 3 lb hammer...........yet.

buy a M1 Carbine front sight puller, open up the chanel for the 03 barrel.
youll never pound a front sight again.
