    Alabama Wilderness?

I spite of what you might have seen on Man Vs. Wild, the only wild areas in Alabama are in some urban locations. It's true that Little River Canyon is the deepest gorge east of the Mississippi, but its not a wilderness. We had to wonder what the people riding the rim road, looking at the canyon thought, or how he wasn't run over by a kayak. However it is a very beautiful piece of real estate and I'm happy more people got to see it.

Man Vs. Wild is more staged compared to Survivorman. Bear Gryles might have been in the Britsh Paras, but he comes across to me to be more poser. You can almost sense the Holiday inn is a quarter mile away or in ruder climes, the crew's camp is not far away.

Reminds me of a man that escaped custody near my mother's home. He ran into the Bayou Pierre swamp wearing flip flops, a wife beater t-shirt, and shorts. After a day and a half he found one of the county roads crossing the swamp and flagged down a car, told them to call 911, he was the one they were looking for and he just wanted to get to jail. Chiggers, briers, and who knows what else had marked him up pretty good. The deputies had do disinfect him, so they used alcohol.
