    Picking up my last layaway

In about 10 minutes I'm taking my lunch to drive to a local gun shop to pay off the last of two layaways. I was paying on my No5 up until about 3 weeks ago and today I'm bringing home my P14. Typically, my own rule on this stuff is if I have to put in on layaway I only do one at a time and I don't buy anything else until the layaway is paid off. Well, you know how it is with mil-surplus, you can't guarantee you'll see another of what you want for the price you want... so I bent the rules a little.

I'll post some pictures when time permits.

KarlJ, Sometimes there's an inner voice, or the rifle's talking to ya that makes us 'break the rules'.

Especially when it says "I'm a really nice P14 with Weedon Proofs and you'll kick yourself in the butt for a very long time if you pass me up..."

Maybe I should have read that section on mental health on the 4473 a little better....

All right!!!! Picture time.... Get comfy...

Let's start off with the newest addiction, uh, I mean addition.....

So far the only thing I added is the piling swivel. That's the nice thing about the layaway, I was able to score an Eddystone swivel from e-bay.

Sorry the pics are a little dark, my house is like the Black Hole, not even light escapes....

The stock is marked Patt14 and the brass disk is just marked with an S

The star is the Weedon Proof

    Under the rear sight....

    Service Proofs

The volley sight was removed for WWII

There are a few Remington marked parts

I believe that's the barrel proof...

Not sure what the G is for

    There's a Z on one sight ear

The bolt has most of the black finish

    Bolt matches

Look what I found in the buttstock

    And the No5....

She's a BSA 1945. All matching but the magazine and the upper handgard.

M47 is the designation for BSA

    It's a pre-68 import.

Not sure what the S393 is for... I've never heard of a serial number like that....

    The bolt matches...

    BSA Barrel
