I am gonna say it is good I had the pleasure of opening a crate of these from M.D. Manufacturing, the case's were all about the same color, the threads used were all pretty light, the leather tabs varied from yellow, orange brown and almost black. All had aluminum zippers with pull tabs.I think any of them with brass zippers are repop or repaired.

Ditto here. I would like to see the other side of the zipper pull.

My M.D. was purchased in the '60s and was as you described. I'll probably never know if it was a real one or not but it came from the old Omaha Surplus store in Fort Worth, TX so it's the only one I'll ever have for a reference.

Where is Bill Ricca when you really need him?.

Probably the most common maker I see.

    Crown Zip.....................

Gotta be real. Crown has not been making zips since WWII. Also the sling slide hardware is WWII period and has not been used since then.

    It looks OK to me.

As far as zippers, the manufacturers used both Brass and Steel.

  9. Thank You to Bill Ricca For This Useful Post:

    +1 for authentic.

It'll be interesting to see how high the bids go.

Thanks for the info. guys!!Hmmm wonder who the maker of the legit brass zipper was? Anyway, I think I'll be a happy puppy when I receive the M1icon case I just won from our fellow member JJH..Saw it on CAFDFW's post regarding the surplus M1 cases being stenciled w/ deer scenes after the war to entice sales to hunters. Well this case has more history and an interesting story to tell then the unissued brand spanking looking new M1 case up there that will probably sell over $100. I wish I could get more info. on this so I can pass down the history...
