    1911 Colt slide question

    Colt slide serial # question

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Colt slide serial # 202XXX which has had a mat finish at one time. It has no proof marks but does have an "JN" stamped just below the rear of the extractor on the inside of the frame rail below the rear of the firing pin. There are no markings on the right of the slide. The left has the standard Colt marking with the horse to the rear of these and forward of the serrations rather than in the middle of the markings or behind the serrations as is on many slides. Can anyone tell me was this military or not?

The slide is from one of the Brazilianicon contract Colts. It was originally finished in the Colt oven blue. Most slides I have seen have been sandblasted and given a phosphate finish. The right side slide markings which had the Brazilian markings must have been removed .

Thanks for the help, is there an internet site where I can get more info on the Brazilianicon gun?
