1941 receiver, 1942 two groove barrel, LB marked short Butt.
Any know what the markings are on the R/H side of the receiver, by the rear sight?

    I think she's lovely!

I have one of these long branch rifles as well. I did some looking into it and the Italianicon proof marks, and found this website which I think will be very interesting for you!

    Very cool piece of history.

Yes, I'm about due for an update (and the email address to me is no longer valid. PM me here is best way).
There are some notable additions to the list, not the least of which is a single digit Long Branch that has been located.

Note too, that given the quantity of serial numbers in the list, I have to have all digits without any XXX outs, otherwise the data is compromised.
    Thank you for everyone's contributions.

    PS:
    (keep them coming).
(IF I "Thank" your contribution, it has been added to the list)

I have just acquired 60L1904. 1943 stamped with a 1943 barrel. Never marked as F(T)R anywhere. Has expedient 300/600 yard rear flip sight. Expedient floorplate. zamacicon alloy butt plate. Fishtail safety lever?. Walnut aside from the rear handguard. You can never know, of course, but the furniture sure seems original.

Sporter configuration 2L9386 with all but the rear sight and magazine being Long Branch. No4Mk1* 1942 with 1942 barrel. Mine has Canadianicon proofs with New Zealandicon markings also. Buttstock and remaining parts of the fore end have been refinished and sanded so they are not salvageable.

Buttplate is presumably steel but it is an ugly grayish color. That may need to be replaced when I am able to locate replacement wood.

And just for fun..the magazine has serial 5L2358 but has a circle B on the follower.

Rear Sight has B with an upwards arrow and a B C R.
