A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I loved the mini-series Band of Brothers …

Here's a snip from the Academy Awards where it won a lot of accolades and many of the real Band of Brothers attended ...

The only problem with Band of Brothers and Spielberg is that he says “You have to dig for the truth.” It’s well known that the 101st Abn did not initially discover Dachau and were not the first to pass through the Eagle’s Nest and Berchtesgaden. The US 3rd ID passed through the Eagle’s Nest a week before them. It’s a very sticky subject with the veterans of the 3rd ID. So I don’t understand Speilberg stressing that “You have to dig for the truth” when in fact he knew the above facts while producing “Band of Brothers.”

Hopefully he did find the truth when producing Pacific.
