Well, first off, I sure wouldn't be buying primers from gunbroker. Have you seen what people are asking for M2 ball? .70 to .80 cents a round. CMP was selling it for .30 odd cents a round. Things are way too high priced there. If you find a good deal, some sellers refuse to sell to you saying the auction didn't bring enough money. It's happened to me on there. I seldom buy anything from them.

I know that Wolf primers were going for 30 somthing a 1000 not too long ago. It's more then I'm used to paying but well, the dollar is in the toilet, demand is sky high, and we are fighting a couple of wars.

I would rather use CCI primers but I will buy wolf primers when I need primers again. I normally buy in bulk as to spread out the cost of the haz-mat fee.

I would rather buy american but you just can't anymore. It's sad but most of the items I need to buy are imported. Remember when wal-mart only sold made in america items? Well, not anymore. It's either buy foreign or go without.

I believe that alot of the powders you buy are also imported. That doesn't make them bad. I sure won't pay for brass cased 7.62x39 to feed my AK and SKS's.

Look around for deals and be prepared to buy when they come up. They are out there.

Geeze! I was at a gun show saturday and everyone had tons of powder, primers, brass and bullets as well as loaded ammo in just about every caliber and most prices were close to where they were three years ago! I was shocked to see so much stuff on the tables and folks weren't even buying much!? You guys need to come to Ohio.

I was at a gun show in Western Massachusetts and they had CCI primers for $35.00 a 1,000. Not like the good old (recently old) days but it's getting a little better.

Last Gunshow I went to in Dayton had tons of primers;
WSP- $45.00 per 1000
WLP- $50.00 per 1000
WLR-$50.00 per 1000
CCI-500; $50.00 per 1000

Widener's has a reasonable selection of Wolf primers in stock for about $29.50per brick before shipping. I have used Wolf Large Pistol and Small Rifle Mag (.223) with good results. For me the Wolf Large Pistol was a little hotter than US primers, but the loads were very accurate, enjoyed using them and would buy more if needed.

At the Tanner Gun Show in Denver this weekend, saw lots more primers for sale showing increases in supply, running about $36 to $40 per brick. I'd say that $50 per 1000 is way too high, other choices should be available now, especially if you can buy in some level of bulk. At the Tanner Show ammo was priced way high from most vendors, even allowing for shipping. Best thing we can do is wait it out until supply & inverntories stack up, as will happen because the manufacturers, especially the Russians, are really cranking it out now. If you check the internet for ammo, some sellers are starting to drop prices noticeably, prob because stocks are backing up and sales may be slowing. Component prices should follow and drop as supplies catch up to demand.

BTW, yes, buying Russian stuff could be seen as helping them, and Russia under Putin's new styled KGB system is definitely an enemy of the west, nowdoubt about that... However, comparing our society with theirs, and at the relative prices we can get their stuff at, I'd say they are still giving us the rope to hang THEM with, the Russian Bear greatly supporting marksmanship and gun ownership in America.
