    FAL Range report...

Well I took the FAL out today trying to work up new loads since I had the Stoll flash hider and new locking shoulder installed by Moses. My old load wasn't any good after the installation due to the difference in chamber size and the change in harmonics. It used to be Varget but now it seems to like AA2520 for 165 gr bullets and AA2460 for 150gr ones (jerrymrc recommended to try the powder). I have a hunting load made using 43.0 gr of AA2520 using Winchester brass and WLR primers for 165gr Sierra HPBT but I was concerned of the brass possibly getting stretched thin. I used LC 77 brass this time w/40.6 gr and came up with this .990" three shot group. The POI is high but the scope is dialed in for the first AA2520 load.
The next pic is using LC 77 brass, CCI #34 primer, 43.0 gr of AA2460 and a Sierrs 150gr mk. This load didn't flatten the primer but it did seem a little on the warm side and I wouldn't add anymore. I have a feeling that I have to keep in check the pressure I put on the grip in case it bears down on the bipod and barrel. Next is to clock them....It was a cloudy, muggy, no wind day at the TRPC. Thanks to all for the tips!!

That is a good looking group from your FAL. You can try glassing the fit of the butt stock to the receiver. That will sometimes eliminate lateral stringing if you know it is not you causing it and make the groups rounder.
