The following video(s) are excerpts which have been extracted from the Videos Category (click here) of our main Knowledge Library (click here).
Fundamentals of Small Arms Weapons (WWII U.S. Training Films)

These combined videos demonstrate the mechanics of pistols, rifles and machine guns. You'll learn the difference of how semi-automatic and automatic rifles, fire, gas operation vs. blowback operation. What exactly happens in chambering, locking, cocking, firing, unlocking, extraction, ejection and feeding. It is a three part series combined into one video, with each individual video covering the following topics:

FUNDAMENTALS OF SMALL ARMS WEAPONS - PART I - THE CYCLE OF OPERATION (1945)
Covers processes of chambering, locking, cocking, firing, unlocking, extraction, ejection and feeding, all explained in detail with a functional model built up to illustrate each step.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SMALL ARMS WEAPONS - PART II - THE TYPES OF OPERATIONS(1945)
Explains the four basic types of operation: Manual, Gas, Blowback and Recoil with focus on application of operating principles to weapons.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SMALL ARMS WEAPONS - PART III - SEMIAUTOMATIC AND AUTOMATIC FIRE (1945)
Typical firing mechanisms constructed with models and basic principles of the two firing methods are demonstrated.

As reviewed by Rickard Z. ….. "This series of 3 WWII training films is an excellent learning tool showing in detail how guns work. Contrary to stereotypes of the Army being bureaucratic critic and inefficient, the soldiers who produced these films really got it right."
