    You're Right!!!!!

I recognized the name, but couldn't place it. He and Admiral Kimmel were hung out to dry after Pearl Harbor.

    Thanks for "connecting the dots!"

J.B., your welcome, and you are right that Short and Kimmel were hung out to dry. They were both made scapegoats for the disaster. The administration in Washington held back information that they needed to defend Pearl Harbor including that an attact was imminent. Including the day and time of the impending attack. Gen. Short asked for a court-marshall to prove his case but was denied. They were both exonerated by congress in 1999.....Frank

I also believe the Lt. Col. named E.C.Desobry named in the other report was the commander of Task Force Desobry involved in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.

Task Force Desobry of the 10th Armored was commanded by Maj. William R. Desobry. I do not know if they were related.....Frank

One fortunate result of removing Admiral Kimmel was replacing him with Admiral Nimitz, who proved to be an absolutely brilliant commander and architect of the Pacific campaign. Nimitz is often overshadowed by MacArthur, but, in reality, it should be the other way around.
