    Item no. 2186 - MAUSER VERGUEIRO M1904 PORTUGUESE RIFLE & MATCHING BAYONET (click here)

    A Portuguese issue Mauser bolt-action rifle model of the Vergueiro 1904 short rifle in caliber 8x57mm. Oriiginally manufactured at Oberndorf Germanyicon in caliber 6.5mm but converted in the 1930's to fire the standard German 8mm cartridge and re-designated as the model 1904/36. Features include blued steel finish with full length military stock and forearm, sling swivels, 600mm barrel, bayonet lug, front sight with protective ears, tangent rear sight, integal 5 round magazine that loads with a stripper clip, straight bolt handle. Matching serial numbers on the stock, bolt and receiver, magazine assembly and floor plate, receiver ring is marked with the Portuguese designation C over I denoting the reign of King Don Carlos the First. Portugal became a democracy in 1910. Condition rates very good with a bright shiny bore showing sharp rifling. Comes with a Portuguese Army issue bayonet and scabbard also serial number matching to the gun. A non-restricted class firearm.
