    Anyone making a .30 Cabine upper ?

Saw an upper @ a WAC show two years ago, can't remember the manufacturer.
But seems like a doable idea???

    Thanks, for responses.

    AR in 30 carbine

    Why??

I probably shouldn't be flip, and the 30 Carbine round is quite useful, but for less money you can get the original through the CMPicon. They are reliable, take less cleaning etc. If you purchase a reproduction M1A1icon stock are smaller than an AR.

I do own several carbines, including a M1A1 with its very own tennis racquet case.

Why not? And then do the short range match version to see how accurate the cartridge can be made!

I think it would be fun, like the uppers made in 40,9,10,7.63x39and 45 to name a few. I think it would probably work right out of the toolroom.

i can see the interest in having all the calibers possible to someone who specialises in this platform , if i were to do that id want a lower for all the options and uppers in all the calibers i could find ,

but i think most of the R&D these days is concentrating on hunting calibers , we need to change the 'image' dont cha know

Well, for deer, I've been estatic with the performance of the Sierra 55 gr. sp bullets - and, yes, I just put 'em in the chest cavity like normal. Been using it almost exclusively for the past several years only because it works so well- both platform and terminal ballistics. So other calibers are just for funsies....

You're pretty spot on. Its an early M16icon upper w/ green painted A2 handguard that has a bit of innertube in front to keep the rain out of the innards. The stock is a Magpul CTR(?) in green - I like it for the clamping feature and the short length of pull that I can set when needed. Scope's an early Colt w/post (and more innertube to keep water/sun off the rear lens- the front lens gets a cut off film canister taped on when needed.) The lower's just a mule.

You might guess I'm not into "pretty" working rifles...or letting the weather keeping me from hunting.

I'm thinking it was Olympic Arms. I seem to remember seeing a couple of barrels chambered in 30 carbine at their booth at Camp Perry a year or two ago.
I also think the Israelis converted some M16s to 30 carbine and adapted them to use the 30 round M1icon carbine mags.

I also remember Olympic Arms making .30 Carbine uppers and complete rifles at one time.

I don't know about any Israeli conversions of the M16icon to .30 Carbine, but they did have a Micro Galil variant called the Magal that was chambered in .30 Carbine. Some sources claim that the Magal's magazines were not interchangeable with the M1 carbine, but they definitely looked like they were based on the USGI magazines.
