M1 Slings - Anyone Seen This Weave Before?

All three slings came from the same guy. All have the narrow buckle and late (not flat) keeper. The bottom one has a familiar weave pattern, but the top two do not look like any M1icon slings that I have run across before. The top one actually came wrapped in the 1955 dated "vapor" paper and it looks like it has been there a long time. Do the two top slings still have the earlier weave pattern? They just look odd to me. I have some 1944 and 1945 dated slings and these just don't look like that weave either.

    Thanks, Greg V

Yes, I have seen these before. In my reference library I have them in OD and Mustard Khaki. I have them with both early and late keepers. Dates vary from 1952 thru 1953.

I think they were made up at an Ordnance Depot in the early 1950's, from spare webbing. Can not confirm it, just that the facts aim toward that conclusion.

In 1963 Colt provided OD slings with their Model 01 (or 601) to the Air Force. Those sling have similar weave but the fittings facts I am keeping a secret so the fakers don't start.
