    Colt 1911A1 Advise Needed

I have a very good 1945 Colt 1911A1. However, the barrel bore is OK. I know of an excellent correct replacement barrel that I am thinking of replacing it with. However, the barrel condition/appearance would look better than the rest of the pistol and easily visible through the ejection port. Would putting this barrel in the pistol detract from its value or should I leave the original barrel with it? THANKS

If you do change the barrel, keep the original with it. If it were mine, I would just leave the original barrel in the pistol. You can't go wrong with keeping it all Original.

I agree. Leave them as you find them unless you have a mighty good reason not to. When I get the urge to change something I usually just buy the part if it really is bugging me but rarely change it even when I get the part. That part is most often a magazine.

if you want a showpiece leave it as is--if you want a shooter than buy a spare barrel--the key word is spare-- the last time I did it it took less than 5 minutes to change out the barrel
