M1873 with 1863 Lockplate
Looking to see if anyone can shed some light on the following: I have a Model 1873 Trapdoor (per the receiver) but the lockplate has a date of 1863 on the far left end. I assume it was just pieced together using what was at hand but am wondering if there is any more to the story? Thanks guys!

Main drama I can think of is that the hammer will be rather outboard of its normal position. It ought to about center on the firing pin when down.

Trapdoor with CW lock
If it has a CW lock, an original '73 TD hammer will not line up. The tumbler shaft is to long. You can't put a '73 TD tumber in a CW lockplate and have the hammer seat correctly or line up. The hammer for a model '68 would work. There are a lot of Bannerman guns out there with that combo. If I were you, I would advertise to trade your CW type lock for an original '73 TD lock.
