I watched a no.4 mk1 bayonet on e-bay, the bid went to 227.50 dollars. I watched a no.7 a few weeks ago and the bid went to 150 dollars plus. It was hard to believe the prices.

some silly prices get paid, a MkI shoudlnt go much over 100 they are not that uncommon no matter what is said about them. The No7 is not common and I woudl say 150 is a fair price for one with scabbard. I just picked up a NoII from the film the exorcist (in rubber and not in Grahams bok) and tha was only 19

i agree , that cruciform while desireable add to the collection should have been a $100-125 buy depending on condition and who wanted it ,

the no7 is another story - it went well within the range these command , reminds me i should find a frog for my spare no7 and sell it .......especialy if there are bidders that will go $200+ for a mkI

If the No7 had a small muzzle ring, its for the EM2 Experimental rifle. I found one with a new in the grease No4 Mk1 US Property marked Enfield.

I picked up my Mk1 cruciform for £50 a few years back and I got my No.7 Black grip for £40 and mint red grip for £30. It appears there much cheaper in the UK shops. Anyone know what rifle a No.5 type bayonet with a small muzzle ring would be for?

I think those were the original for the F.N. rifles in UK service.

That is the No.5, a nearly identical bayonet was used for the L2A3 SMG.

The No5 rifle and Sterling SMG bayonets are not 'nearly' identical B-P, but actually identical. 70,000 L2A3 Sterlings, slings and bayonets plus 710,000 magazines were returned to Ordnance, refurbished to brand new FTR condition............... then destroyed within a year! Good job I kept a few bayonets back 'eh
