    primers and powder

both of the primers and powders, needed to make your cartridges, are becoming available again in better grades, brands, types. happy to see powder valley and weideners offering most of the stuff we need now , but somewhat upped in price point. I think most shooters and loaders are still a bit afraid that after the health care bill is gone, the next thing to have the Obami type hit will be the availability and prices and restrictive laws to curtail us all from aquiring powder and such to reload. I for one will be storing away my type of shooting stuff for the future and not worrying about the future availability too much. i hope this works out.:

I think that the Obamanation crew will wait to see if they get a 2nd term before they try bans and restrictions. We will have to see.

    Hey, guys,

I'm not convinced that gun control is very high on Obama's to-do list. If it was he'd be giving it the ful-court press. I think the Obama administration will support gun control measures that are enacted by states or cities. All politics are local - well maybe not all the time, but I think that's the case now with firearms laws.

If you have a concern, make it known locally or with your state representatives. Obama's got other fish to fry.

The hoarders are the problem here. As long as the shelves are being cleared as fast as they are stocked, the prices will stay high. The old supply and demand thing. If EVERYONE would quit buying for say a month or two (I am sure the hoarders have enough to get them through for that short of time) the message would become clear and the prices would go down. Otherwise you are just cutting your own throats by feeding the frenzy.

There are plenty of primers available in this area. Powder has never been in short supply. Ocassionally you couldn't get a particular brand, but there was always a good substitute available. Loaded ammo was a different thing, but reloading supplies were never short around here.

I got a buddy who has 500,000 primers at home. He says just in case he needs them. Hoarding is a problem.

i really don't see hoarding as a problem for you and me. i think the hoarding will come to an end, but that those who have 500K primers will have a problem using them and will eventually be selling them and such, maybe at a loss. we will see won't we.

I'm probably called a hoarder since I have over a 1000 primers except for small rifle. When I get to 300-400 I start looking for another brick. Powder has sometimes been a problem finding what I want or need. I still have about 6 lbs of Varget(not my prefered powder but adequet to the job at hand and a couple pounds each of H and I 4895 and 4 pounds of 231. I hope that's not hoarding.

I've got about 40,000 primers. But I shoot 4-500 rounds per week during the summer and around 200 per week during the winter. That number just won't last me all that long.

Man! those primers gonna ROT! Anyway, I went to Docs the other day and was able to pick up some large rifle magnum primers for the first time since about September. They were Winchester. I like CCI but they're not coming in yet.
