    M17 ??

    New guy here,I have ?,I have a Winchester Mdl.17,real good shape,on the stock in small letters it has DAV.The rifle is in too good shape to have been a parade piece,any idea? Thanks

    Well most likely it is just what it says, Disabled American Veterans, I have never seen any military DAV stamps of any kind.

    Many of the ceremonial rifles got beat to **** but some of them just sat in the storage room gathering dust.

    My Winchester was a ceremonial rifle as well, and it has an unused bore and overall in excellent shape, as opposed to many out there.

    I know why it was in such good shape, they had put the 30-06 to .308 adapter sleeve in it but never recut the chamber for the .308 case profile, as a result they could never manage to get a 308 to fit into the chamber LOL, thier loss is my gain
