    Seller says:

Type 38, (991) carbine with mum removed This is a type 99 short but is registered as a type 38. This IS an experimental prototype that was NOT produced. It is a rare piece and you could be the only guy who has one in his collection. From a DIFFERENT source than the above firearms. ?? Japaneseicon lettering underneath where the mum was. Numbers all match. Bore is excellent and shiny (WOW). One hole in the receiver, this is a 7.7? There is lots of small pitting on this rifle. The barrel, at least the small portion showing from under all that wood, is pitted as is the front sight and the forward barrel band. The butt plate shows lots of pitting. Someone has repainted the pitted areas with black paint and I’m not sure if they did the receiver area or not so I will not venture a guess as to bluing remaining. The bolt has lots of bluing, over pitting too so… not an original job I’m sure. The stock is tough. The joint is tight and shows no sign of separation. The stock has a serious crack, un-repaired, running from an inch behind the trigger guard (right side) to a half inch behind the end of the top strap and returning to the side/tip of the top strap. This is repairable with some glue and it won’t look too bad when it’s done, but you need to know it’s there. There is also another small crack, running with the grain for about four inches along the left side of the gun. Again, this is repairable with some glue and will show very little when you’re done. This gun has a most unique rear sight, to me anyway. It has two arms that fold out from it, with numbers 2 in the middle with a notch and the numbers 3 on the tips. This is an anti-aircraft sight and was an experimental/prototype gun. Who the heck tries to shoot down an aircraft with a carbine??? This is/was a nice piece and should be a great shooter. Too bad it’s storage life wasn’t better. But it is a prototype, it has that nifty rear sight and a great bore so price is $550.

Payment is by emt (preferred) to inventions.co@hotmail.com (send your requests here also). Money orders are ok and PayPal with 5% added (sorry, they gouge too much).

Trades are reasonably priced SKS D models, any milled sks’s, military sks’s or any unusual sks’s. I’ll also consider any non-restricted so called ‘assault’ type firearms or black firearms as intelligent people correctly refer to them.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.
    Regards,
    Badger

I'm not clear on what makes it a prototype. Looks to me like a mid-war transitional model Type 99 mde by Toyo Kogyo in about 1943, much like the one we have in the MKLicon... Probably a 32nd series.

Especially considering the cracked stock, it's well overpriced.
