I just got an early 95%-original Underwood (Bavarian Rural Police) from the
CMP, and it had an early I-Cut Highwood "MARLIN" stock on it.

Here's the thing: The eBay one has the late Underwood cartouche on it, where-as mine directly from the CMP has the early big-box Underwood cartouche. Not sure what to think about that, actually.
And the last time the CMP sold one of these "MARLIN"-marked stocks, it went for $683:

I've heard stories that as few as 300 of Marlin's stocks were marked this way, but I have absolutely no way to verify that. Anyone else have any ideas?
