    Real or not ?

4 x 30's. There's a few of these for sale here at the moment but I have never seen a real one to compare with. Bill will know. Thanks. Mike.

I think real. The click the dot fastener is right, color looks right, and the eyelets on the bottom look right.

I agree with 'imarangemaster' Mike. It's authentic.

Besides, the people who make reproductions, etc, don't have incentive enough to fake Korean war era items because there isn't enough money in it.

Harlan, I don't agree 100% on this one. I have seen repo items made that are worth a lot less then that pouch (muzzle covers for one). I don't think it's the amount of money, but how much profit verses the production cost, and is there a market.

But I do agree it looks to be authentic. I think there was a post a while back about someone selling these from Arizona.

Here are some others I have. And this is a link to Mr. Ricca's page about them.

I guess it's just I haven't seen any known Korean war fakes (yet) -

There seem to be many originals and I wouldn't think there's be a market enough yet, but I was giving the crooks too much credit.

What about all the reproduction 4 mag pouches on ebay and GB? I had one with markings, but different than what I've seen on originals. I sold it as a repro and bought a S. Froehlich marked original for the same price.

I guess they are making them now then!

I used to collect a lot of WWII USGI web gear for re-enacting but I haven't been into it for a little while. Crooks are everywhere.

About 10 years ago the 1950 JQMD was repro'ed. It looked so good, until I picked it up and found the fabric to be much lighter. Also the rear two belt webs were off color.

If somebody purchased it and used it for display, you would never know the difference, the markings were that good.

I made the mistake of buying an obvious repro on eBay about a year ago. The canvas is about half the weight of a real one. I question another one that looks and feels correct (dated 1950), but the stitching looks more modern than the honest ones I have. It also easily fits four mags without trouble unlike the real ones that tend to be tight.
