    British L1A1 snow camo question

    Hey All,

In many photos of Britishicon troops operating in Norwayicon & other snowy places there is white camo applied to their L1 rifles. How was this done, was it paint or tape or something else? Also, was there specific directives as to how to apply it or some sort of 'official' pattern? Yes, my curiosity has gotten the better of me yet again...

    Thanks!

In Canadaicon we used the white tape out of the first aid kits. Applied in any patern to break up the outline of the rifle.

    Peter,

You mean sort of like a white gaffer tape?

    Thanks,

I wouldn't paint white stripes on it or Peter will be around with his DP stencil set!

    Jeff,

All the pictures I have are in books &, therefore, copyrighted. I'll see if I can scare something up off the web.

    Cheers

Rifles used in Norwayicon with the winter sling fittings. That white mine tape was the other stuff they used to wrap around kit. On the basis that white mine lane-marking tape wasn't a lot of good in snowy Norway!
