I don't think that it'll be an Inglis with an AT serial number John303. Their Mk1's and 1M's started with M and N prefixes

Yep, pretty damned sure John. Not being an expert in Bren matters but Inglis production STARTED at M1icon to 9999 then N, then OT. I was being cyclic when I said 'started' as the Mk1 cycle continued until about 6T or so

The reason that Inglis were to start at M-0001 was because Enfield started at A-0001 and Inglis was to augment UKicon production. At the time no one ever imagined, even their wildest dreams that Enfield production would soon butt-end the Canadianicon numbers with L-9999. In fact some Enfield made Brens did indeed run into the Canadian allocated M serial number range (Enfield M1319 is an example.....). When the duplication was presumable noticed, Enfield continued from U-xxxx. But STILL there was duplication with the V serial number range between Enfield and Daimler

Don't quote these numbers as gospel as I am thinking on my feet, from memory. But anyway, you get my drift...........

Both of my deactivated Brenguns were made by John Inglis. Canadaicon.

MKIm 1942 serial no 3T4913. Deactivated in 2006 by Kentex. Has hump back butt and extending legs bipod.

MKII 1943 serial number 8T49. Deactivated by Ryton Arms in 2007. MK3 bipod and has a flat butt plate.

Pleased to have any further information. Many thanks, Lester

There's not much else anyone can tell you. It was made in 1943, it's a Mk1, made at Enfield, in Middlesex. Unless you want to know that it was made to contract number E80/41 awarded in early 1942 for 35,000 Brens
