No.8 and Envoy handguards - are they the same?

Just picked up two No.8 handguards. Am I right in thinking that they are the same length as the Envoy handguards?
They were the property of a UKicon Cadet unit that had the rifles scrapped! I know the early L42A1 sniper rifles used modified No.8 handguards - they were shortened and the barrel band groove re-cut but this leaves the finger grooves projecting forward of the band.

    Yes, they are identical.

I think that nearly all of the original Envoy forends were actually just altered No8 items as well (with the mag well cut out and the rear draws converted to Mk2), and it seems only later the manufacturer started turning out purpose built forends as spares.

I've got a couple of Enforcer handguards with the scope relief. They look basically the same. Came from Colin Moon Ltd. who made the Enforcer woodwork IIRC. (I'm not that attached to them either if someone has L8/L42 mags or other stuff to trade.)

Enforcer handguards are the same as L39/L42 items; they are shorter than Envoy/No8 handguards:

    (No8 top, L39 bottom)

Perhaps they're something else then. Will post a photo sometime.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
