    New Finn M91's

Recently acquired two Finnishicon M91's at auction.

One is a VKT barrel, in a round finger joint Finnish stock, dated 1942:

The other is a 1941 Tikka, in a 1 piece Russianicon stock:

metal and bores look great, EXCEPT--both are counterbored

I'll have to wait to find out. I haven't shot either one yet.

Most collectors consider a counterbored rifle to be less desirable than a non-counterbored rifle.

I'm more interested in how a rifle shoots, so if these shoot well, I'll swallow my disappointment.

    Nice finds....

I haven't seen a Finn M91 under 300 bucks in several years here. The Finns did counterbore their barrels to improve accuracy. It removed cleaning rod wear from the muzzle crown. Some of my M91s are counterbored about 1/4 inch. I have a 91 Tikka. I will have to see how close my sn is to yours....chris3
