    Help M1917 Bayonet Think might be Fake

    Hi i recenty puchased m1917 rem bayonet im worried it might be fake i posted pic of the stamp markings the knife looks real good almost too good condition please let me know what u think i think the bomb flames dont match alot others ive seen and few other thinks seem wrong to me[IMG]http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk60/jjt13843/026.jpg[/IMG

    Look at the markings side by side with another Model 1917 and you will see that the markings on this bayonet are just not the same. If you don't own another one, check out the pictures here:

    yea it is fake i guess ill just keep it dont want to sell to some other idiot lol it was one of the deals as soon as i started looking at it i knew was fake but tryed to talk myself into it might be real cause the remighnton stamp and date are like perfect

    I bought one of these for my collection knowing it was a reproduction. Interesting variation.

    a reenactor might put it to use , if you were not wanting to keep it , be sure to list it as a reproduction for that purpose , no shame in that

    do some of the stamping sometimes overlap each other like bird slightly over lapping bomb

    I have never seen the eagle inspection stamp overlapping the ordnance stamp.
